Former tennis legend Roger Federer appreciated the young Carlos Alcaraz and Coco Gauff for their recent impressive performances.

Federer Alks About Coco Gauff And Carlos Alcaraz

According to Roger Federer Men’s and women’s tennis are undergoing a “really significant” generational shift. Federer was the first of “the Big 3” to announce his retirement from men’s tennis following an emotional end to the 2022 Laver Cup in London.

Two of tennis’ rising stars have achieved Grand Slam victories this year. The American teenager Coco Gauff won her first Grand Slam at the US Open after defeating Australian Open 2023 champion and world no. 1 Aryna Sabalenka. Carlos Alcaraz defeated Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon final.

The ‘records will always tumble’, according to Federer, who finished his legendary tennis career with 103 victories overall and 22 Grand Slam titles. He expressed his thoughts in a recent interview and said: “A lot still going on in tennis of course, as always. The records will always tumble. Or just the stories always rewritten. And just for example, the US Open was great with the record 24 Grand Slam titles, of course, by Novak Djokovic.”

Federer stated his remarks about Gauff and said: “And of course, I was also very happy about Coco Gauff’s victory. I’ve known her for five years when she was very young, and this was a great victory for her.”

Later on, He also talked about Carlos Alcaraz and Aryna Sabalenka and said: “We have a new world No.1 in women’s tennis Aryna Sabalenka, and Alcaraz, who won Wimbledon. And just the new generational change is really noticeable. It’s a bit of a shame for me that I haven’t been able to play against a few in the last couple of years. But I think it’s great what’s going on in tennis at the moment and I still follow it very, very closely.”

The supremacy previously held by himself, Djokovic, and Rafael Nadal in the men’s game, according to Federer, has been broken up by more new players since the game is currently in a healthy state.
