After having enjoyed a great edition of the Roland Garros, let’s have a look at the new rankings.
Serena
After winning the Roland Garros, the American consolidates her leadership opening up a huge gap with the world no.2 (4421 points).
Kvitova
Petra didn’t have a great run in Paris to lose in the 4th round to Timea Bacsinszky, but she took advantage of the fact that last year’s finalists (Maria Sharapova and Simona Halep) lost lots of points. This means that Petra gains 2 places to be ranked no.2. The world no.1 spot is completely out of reach, but she can still be happy.
Sharapova
Maria lost a lot of points after cashing out at the hands of Lucie Safarova in the 4th round. The Russian is now world no.4
Safarova
After reaching the final in Paris, Lucie has gained 6 places to be ranked no.7 (career high). Going for more?
Bacsinszky
Timea had another great tournament in Paris to reach the semifinal. The Swiss is now ranked no.15 (career high).
Bouchard
Genie’s ranking is going down and down. The Canadian Beauty is now out the top 10 (no.11). More misery to come after Wimbledon (2014 runner-up)?
Svitolina
Elina had a remarkable run at the French Open to reach the quarters (d. by Ivanovic). The Ukrainian climbs 4 places to be ranked no.17 (career high and definitely going for more).
