Nadal shows great form in FO opener

Rafael Nadal is back on his favorite court to display (once again) why he is the King of Clay!

The world no.7 (that sounds strange) had a dominating performance against wild card Quentin Halys to cruise to a comfortable 6-3 6-3 6-4 win in 1 hour and 50 minutes (match stats). Rafa has now an astonishing 67-1 record at the French Open.

The young Frenchman didn’t play that bad: he showed some serious power and his strategy was good (just going for broke as rallying with Rafa was pointless). Eventually Quentin couldn’t cope with Nadal and he had to bow in straight sets, but that was an honorable defeat.

Rafa: I played good points

The Spanish Legend commented “When I had the chance to play normal points, I think I changed good directions with my forehand [and] very good forehands down the line. After the first three games, when I started a little bit slow, then I start moving the ball better. I am happy with the way that I played. It is the first match and I played well enough. I think my forehand worked well for a lot of moments.”

Next vs. Almagro

Rafa will play his friend and compatriot Nicolas Almagro in the second round. Head to head is 12-1 for Rafa. They played each other 3 times at the Roland Garros and Rafa has never conceded a single set to Nicolas.

Head to head Nadal v Almagro
