Weird stuff in Bogota!
Sara Errani, the 2012 French Open runner-up, and former world no.5 is not able to serve anymore!
The Italian is currently playing the tournament in Bogota where she is hitting the headlines, not for the fact that she reached the quarters, but because she needs to serve underarm after she committed 18 double faults per match in 3 consecutive rounds. (stats 1st match, 2nd match, 3rd match)
Sara Errani has hit an average of 15 DFs/match this year. I’ve wondered how that could happen and decided to watch ONE of her service game. She hit two DFs in the game I watched and this was the horrendous DF she hit on set point. Very concerning.
Any explanation is welcomed. pic.twitter.com/jK9PblQ1x6— Quentin ♣🇧🇪 (@AceForJulia) April 9, 2019
Sara Errani’s underarm serve
These stats are so depressing that the Italian decided to use the underarm serve almost 60% of the times. That’s even weirder to notice that she managed to reach the last 8 in Colombia as a lucky loser and to defeat the world no.182 Bibiane Schoofs 6-2 6-1 in the second round “without her serve.”
She had hit 18 double faults in her last match, and 18 double faults in the match before that, and 18 double faults in the match before that. Maybe she thought it was time for a change (only hit 4 tonight). https://t.co/i8ZWSVOad9

Nasty comments from the social media
Needless to say, fans and reporters around the world were not impressed, and many nasty comments were posted on Twitter.
I want to say that you’re really a shame for professional tennis !
You don’t deserve to be a professional player after this perfomance : it’s a real scandal and it’s also valid for @SaraErrani
I just watched amateur tennis
And you ask for same rights as men … what a joke !

Bibiane Schoofs vs Sara Errani
this aint wta level, this aint itf level, this aint even college level tennis. on one hand we have a player who cant serve to save her life, on the other we have a player who is struggling to return 55mph serves. jesus wept.

The Sara Errani serve is unreal to watch…Here is just one sequence…two bad tosses one fault & one awkward off balance serve for a double fault #15 #WTA pic.twitter.com/MGiz7BAu11

Lucky loser Sara Errani puts on a squalid freak show of wayward retrograde ball tosses and 18 double faults, but is more solid off the ground and better at the net. She beats erratic qualifier Irina Bara, 46 62 63.

Sara Errani struggling with her serve yet again just went with the underhand serve THREE times in one game.. Double faulted on one and was successful using it on SET POINT! #WTA pic.twitter.com/cL4gC0YLNh

Serves the set out with two underarmserves. Bara puts it into the net. Going the distance. Unreal.

Of course….. 6 qualifiers in WTA Bogota…. And 5 lucky losers including Sara Errani who hit 36 DF in her two qualifying matches.. The integrity of the sport going from strength to strength
