Weird stuff in Bogota!

Sara Errani, the 2012 French Open runner-up, and former world no.5 is not able to serve anymore!

The Italian is currently playing the tournament in Bogota where she is hitting the headlines, not for the fact that she reached the quarters, but because she needs to serve underarm after she committed 18 double faults per match in 3 consecutive rounds. (stats 1st match, 2nd match, 3rd match)

Sara Errani’s underarm serve

These stats are so depressing that the Italian decided to use the underarm serve almost 60% of the times. That’s even weirder to notice that she managed to reach the last 8 in Colombia as a lucky loser and to defeat the world no.182 Bibiane Schoofs 6-2 6-1 in the second round “without her serve.”

Nasty comments from the social media

Needless to say, fans and reporters around the world were not impressed, and many nasty comments were posted on Twitter.

This is really not nice from a pro-player. I am not even sure I have seen this watching beginners, let alone intermediate players, let alone pro players.

I am sorry for the insults, but it’s a bit too much

I think that the worst part of it is that she is now i the quarters and she conceded 3 games to her opponent with the underarm serve. That really undermines the level of this event in Bogota. It’s hitting the headlines for the wrong reason

Trying to find the silver lining, she was good in winning this match, but that was hard hard to watch

Come on, I can’t believe this.

She just had to try to put 2 very slow serves in (1st and 2nd). I am sure she could. What…

Better not losing your face. Serving traditional and go back home after 30df than showing this.

She was a former world no5 and she might be remembered for this

Not wise.
