Perfect Nadal beats Isner

Another clean performance for Rafael Nadal in Rome that dismisses John Isner 6-4 6-4 without much struggle. It was “just” about breaking the American once per set and that was it.

Interesting enough Isner won the last 84 service games and last time he was broken was at the hands of Nadal in Monte-Carlo.

Rafa: I played well from the baseline

Nadal commented “I [played] well from the baseline. I played with not many mistakes and tried to go for points when I had a chance. I recovered tough balls, had good movement and a few very good passing shots. That is very good for my confidence, too. In general, I think I played very well.”

Next vs. Wawrinka

Rafa will play Wawrinka in the quarters. Head to head is 12-1 for Rafa that has never lost a single set on clay against the Swiss. Guess who is the favorite to reach the semifinal?

Head to head Nadal Wawrinka
