The move of the Miami Open from the Key Biscayne was rather controversial at the beginning since that was the “natural” and historical set up of the competition.
Eventually, the Miami Open organization decided to take the bold decision to move inland at the premises of the Hard Rock Stadium and that paid the dividends.

According to the official figures, the Miami Open had a record attendance smashing all previous records.
