Naomi Osaka admits that in the past, she thought her tennis career was over if she gets pregnant. Osaka announced her pregnancy in January and gave birth to a child named Shai last month.
Osaka, a four-time Grand Slam champion, won’t participate in any tournaments in 2023, but she hopes to start competing again in 2024.
Naomi Osaka has been talking excitedly about her return to tennis over the past few months. She has stated that after her return from maternity leave, her objective is to win at least eight more Grand Slams.
In an interview, she expressed his feelings: “Actually, there was a lot of pressure I felt for me. For me, I always had the assumption that if you have a kid, it’s basically the end of your career. I don’t really see a lot of women on the tennis tour with kids.
She further stated: “I just never really thought if I had a kid, I’d go back on the tour. But I feel like it was a magical moment for me. It just made me think of all the things I love and appreciate and it just made me really want to work hard.”
