The young Australians are coming right!
Bernard
Tomic and Thanasi
Kokkinakis have huge wins in Indian Wells to then play each other in the 3rd
round.
Bernard stunned an in-form Ferrer
winning 7-5 6-4 in 98 minutes. Thanasi
Kokkinakis had to come through a rough ride again Pico
Monaco to win an epic 6-2, 5-7, 7-6(5). After the match Thanasi
commented “Tiring, but I’m more happy than anything. Relieved, as well. [I]
Made life difficult for myself, but he made it difficult for me, too… Made me
work for it in the end, but I’m happy to get through.”
Head
to head
Tomic and Kokkinakis have already played
each other only once and that was this year in Brisbane when Tomic won 7-6
(2) 6-1. Bernard may still have an edge against Thanasi in Indian Wells.
