The Miami Open tournament director James Blake is about to start a fascinating journey as the prestigious Master ATP1000 moved from its historical site in Key Biscayne to brand new premises at the Hard Rock Stadium.
The Miami Open new premises
The idea was proposed by Dolphins’ billionaire owner Stephen Ross, and Blake is quite optimistic about the outcome. The organization has built a temporary 14,000-seat show court inside the Hard Rock Stadium, 12 match courts, and 18 temporary practice courts.
James stressed how the move was essential to keep the tournament in Miami to comment
“It is a bold idea, but I think it is one that is going to pay dividends. We’re keeping it (the tournament) in Miami.
“I wasn’t involved in those discussions, but from all the rumors I heard it seemed pretty close, it was not a sure thing it was going to stay in Miami.”
The ticket price increase
Blake also talked about the new ticket policy to reveal
“Ticket sales being up 25 percent, that shows us there is great trust in us doing a good job.
That’s something I am proud of, and it puts a little more pressure on us, but that is one of the few things I have missed about being on Tour. That you are doing something that makes a difference when you have that pressure.”
The Miami Open wasn’t very lucky with the weather since a heavy rain washed out the entire competition on Tuesday when some exciting players such as Amanda Anisimova, Dayana Yastremska, and Mari Osaka (Naomi’s sister) were meant to play.
However, this is a marathon, not a sprint.
