Elina Svitolina, a wildcard from Ukraine, overcame world No. 1 Iga Swiatek in a nail-biting match on Centre Court on Tuesday to continue her remarkable run at the 2023 Wimbledon Championships. She has now advanced to the grass-court Major semifinals.
Elina Svitolina was questioned about her husband Gael Monfils’ potential attendance at her semifinal or final during the press conference after she won.
Monfils is content to be at home with their daughter Skai while getting ready for the forthcoming US swing, the Ukrainian humorously retorted.
Elina commented: “I wouldn’t want to change so much the things. I’m not really superstitious, but I don’t want to jinx few things. He’s happy at home. He’s watching from home with Skai and with my parents as well. He has his routines as well before my match. He’s also right now recovering and getting ready for the US swing. It’s okay. I let him stay at home for now.”
