The match
Ranked no.60 on paper the Canadian was the underdog against the 2-slams champion Garbine Muguruza that is currently world no.20. However, Bianca is having a smashing season, and it was pretty clear that she could be dangerous for the Spaniard, but it was difficult to imagine such dominance from Andreescu. The Canadian won this match in just 52 minutes 6-0 6-1 scoring 53 points vs. Muguruza’s 24.
After this match, Bianca is on an amazing 24-3 win-loss record in 2019, and she will face either Elina Svitolina or Marketa Vondrousaova in the semifinal.
The Canadian is projected to climb at least 23 places after reaching this semifinal in Indian Wells.
