I learned to stay positive. OSAKA

Naomi Osaka is happy with what she has learnt during the last few weeks

Naomi Osaka is back and in style!

The world no.1 had to deal with a rough period soon after she won the Australian as she had a rather traumatic split with her coach (and mentor) Sascha Bajin.

The Japanese looked to be out of sorts in Dubai where she crashed out at the hands of Kiki Mladenovic 6-3 6-. The Japanese was in tears soon, but luckily she found great support from her new coach Jermaine Jenkins.

The world no.1 was at her very best in her opening match against Kiki Mladenovic (again!) and this time she got victorious with a straightforward 6-3 6-4 scoreline.

After this 2nd round match, Osaka explained why she was so happy to play once more against her Dubai conqueror to comment

“Honestly, it was great that I got to play her again because I was able to learn from the mistakes I did back then, and I was able to apply it.

I just learned to be really positive and not give her anything.”

Naomi will face Danielle Collins in the 3rd round. The head to head is 1-0 for Osaka that has dismantled the American 6-1 6-0 in the 2nd round in Beijing last year. Difficult to improve that scoreline!!
