Sebastian Korda claims that when he named himself a Wimbledon favorite, he was likely still “hyped up” from one of his victories. Korda began his grass season at the Queen’s Club last week. In addition to defeating Dan Evans in straight sets, Korda defeated Frances Tiafoe 7-6 (2) 6-3.

Korda’s Queen’s Saturday run came to an end in the semifinals as Carlos Alcaraz defeated him 6-3, 6-4. After that, Korda was questioned over his earlier remark about Wimbledon.

After losing to Carlos Alcaraz, Korda commented: “I don’t know where that (being a Wimbledon favorite) came from really. I’m pretty kind of just laid back. I don’t know what I was probably thinking. Just kind of hyped up on the match that I played.”
