Weird stuff in Simona Halep’s camp.
The former world no.1 ends her relationship with her new coach Thierry van Cleemput after just 1 week. Simona stated that they were partnering on a trial basis for 1 month, but especially after she had a good run in Doha, it seemed as things were going well. Simona reached the final in Qatar where she stumbled at the last hurdle after she was leading 6-3 2-0.
Why Halep split with her new coach
Simona explained
“We tried for one week, and it’s finished. We decided to stop because we are not a good fit together. He’s a good person, a very nice person, but on court
the chemistry is not there.We couldn’t fit each other tennis-wise. Personally, he is a very nice person. We are friends.”
Simona is currently in Dubai where she will face either Genie Bouchard or Vera Lapko in her opener.
