Thiago Seyboth Wild question about domestic violence allegation after he defeated Medvedev at the French Open

Thiago Seyboth Wild was accused of abusing his ex-girlfriend Thayane Lima and filed a defamation action in response.

Thiago Seyboth Wild, a Brazilian who stunned world No. 2 Daniil Medvedev at the French Open and was charged with domestic assault, declined to comment about his case. The 172nd-ranked player in the world, who advanced through qualifying, smashed his 69th winner to win his maiden Grand Slam match 7-6 6-7 2-6 6-3 6-4.

In June 2022, Seyboth Wild, age 23, was accused of abusing his ex-girlfriend Thayane Lima physically and psychologically. He had filed a defamation action as his initial response.

As reported by UOL sport: “Audios and videos already presented to the competent authorities prove the falsehood and illegality of the accusations, in addition to the attempted extortion by Thayane Lima da Silva and people related to her. A police report was also registered by Thiago’s mother, against Thayane’s father, who attacked her in the building where the apartment rented by Thiago is located and where she was to remove her son’s belongings.”

When asked to comment about his case during the press conference that followed his 1st round match, he replied: “I don’t think it’s a subject we should talk about right here. I don’t think it’s a question you should be asking anybody. I don’t think it comes to you to decide whether it’s a place to be spoken of or not. You can write whatever you want.”
