Federer beats Bolelli recovering from 1 set down

Strange match for Roger Federer.

The Maestro was having an average (not bad not good) 1st set against a very inspired Simone Bolelli.  The Italian was playing at his very beast to even corner King Roger in many baseline rallies. Eventually the Maestro had to bow in the opening set after losing the second service game.

Roger had to fight his way back in the match till the 7th game of the 2nd set when he broke Bolelli. Then the Italian melted and the Maestro eventually won the match with a relatively comfortable 3-6 6-3 6-2 6-2 in just more than 2 hours.

Roger: I am happy I am still in the tournament

The Maestro was a little bit worried on how things were going at the begining to comment “[I am] Happy I’m still in the tournament, because there for a while today it wasn’t looking very good because Bolelli was playing very well.

But it’s always a good feeling fighting your way out of a match, like now, and winning the last three sets convincingly and actually playing really positive tennis. I served very well.

“[It’s] important is that you play the right way early because it’s not always that easy. Today I had to do some adjustments because he was doing things very well. By figuring things out, it’s a great feeling to have once you’ve got it. Then you’re able to play consistently well, because actually he didn’t have many opportunities on my serve. You always expect yourself to create opportunities, which I was finally able to do. Conditions were playing fast, and it’s not so easy if you serve well to break.”
