Incredible and shocking news from Naomi Osaka as the Japanese splits with her coach Sascha Bajin.
Naomi and Sascha enjoyed a fantastic relationship in just 13 months as they won 2 back to back slams and the prestigious event in Indian Wells coming almost from nowhere. After this feat, Naomi also became the world no.1, and she is currently considered as the player to beat and the “heiress” of the great Serena Williams.
It was well-known that Sascha was in great terms with Naomi and that he was there with a long term perspective.
Why Naomi Osaka split with Sascha Bajin
It’s not clear what caused this sudden split, and there are speculations that this was the real reason why Naomi decided not to compete in Qatar as she withdrew citing back problems.
Usually, the reasons for this kind of splits it’s the lack of a proper agreement, a sudden rupture of the relationship with the rest of the entourage (parents?), or personal reasons like the wish of spending more time with the family (not Sascha’s case).
No official reasons have been given right now.
The announcement
It was Naomi to announce the split on Twitter saying
“Hey everyone, I will no longer be working together with Sascha. I thank him for his work and wish him all the best in the future.”
Sascha replied
“Thank you. I wish you nothing but the best as well. What a ride that was. Thank you for letting me be part of this.”
Now it will be interesting to see how Naomi will react on court.
