Gael Monfils beats Stefanos Tsitsipas to reach the semifinal in Sofia.

The Frenchman played really good tennis against the Greek. Gael was fantastic in the first set when he broke the world no.12 on 2 occasions and he kept his nerves in the 2nd set after he won a tense tiebreak. The final score was 6-3 7-6 (5) in a match that lasted 90 minutes.

Tsitsipas is a real champion. MONFILS

Gael was elated with his performance to comment

“Stefanos is a great player. There’s no doubt. Today I think it was just a few points. He’s a real champion and he will become a big champion.

I was very aggressive today, I tried to dictate and I did my job at the end. Today I served very well, this is my best serving day so far.”

Head to head Monfils vs. Medvedev

I fell in love with tennis after the epic 2008 Wimbledon final between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. From that moment I started to check all the possible stats and the stories behind the tennis players. I have a huge passion for Roger Federer, a great respect for Rafael Nadal and I am interested in the newcomers. Aryna Sabalenka and Naomi Osaka are my favorite players on the WTA tour.
