Naomi Osaka is in her back to back slam final at the Australian Open after her triumph in New York.
The Japanese will face Petra Kvitova in the Melbourne final for a match that will define the 2019 Australian Open champion and the world no.1 that will be either Naomi or Petra.
It would be amazing to be world no.1. NAOMI OSAKA
About getting to the top of the rankings, Naomi commented
“Of course I think it’s amazing if I could be No. 1. For me, I just think about this tournament and each match and each step that gets me closer to the ranking. I don’t think anyone plays a tournament and thinks immediately they want to be No. 1. I think they just think about the goal, which is winning the tournament.
For me, last year I was ranked 70 something, I think. I’m just really happy that I’m in the position that I am now, and I’m not going to take it for granted.”
“It’s a little bit unreal.”@Naomi_Osaka_ could be World No.1 in a matter of days – see what she has to say about that!#AusOpen#大坂なおみ pic.twitter.com/00pUSooigr
