Simona Halep starts the 2015 in the best possible way: winning the Shenzhen title.
The world no.3 was the hot favorite in the tournament, but she still had to battle in the first round against Annika Beck to recover form 1 set down. Then it was all just about the Romanian. Simona didn’t drop more than 6 games per match on her way to the title and she even trashed Timea Bacsinszky in the final 6-2 6-2.
The match against the Swiss lasted just 63 minutes with Simona scoring 58 points vs. Bacsinszky’s 38. Match Stats
Halep: I was feeling sick
Simona said that she wasn’t 100% before the match “I wasn’t feeling very well before the match – I was a little bit sick – so I told myself I have nothing to lose, just go on court, be relaxed, stay focused and fight for every point. It worked, and I felt really relaxed today. I’m happy I could play better day by day and match by match here. I’m looking forward to playing like today in the next tournament, maybe even better.”
