Naomi Osaka has just reached the quarters at the Australian Open to have a good shot at winning her second back to back slam and be the new world no.1 However, the Japanese sensation had to scramble a lot in the last 2 matches after beating Su-Wei Hsieh 5-7 6-4 6-1 and Anastasija Sevastova 4-6 6-3 6-4.
How Osaka was inspired by Stefanos Tsitsipas and Frances Tiafoe
After beating Anastasija Sevastova, during the on-court interview, Naomi commented on how inspired she was from Stefanos Tsitsipas and Frances Tiafoe after they reached the Australian Open quarters after beating Roger Federer and Grigor Dimitrov.
The world no.4 commented
I have been watching all these kids… when Tsitsipas beat Federer. I was like ‘wow.’ I also decided I wanted to do well too.
I was watching him [Tsitsipas] and Tiafoe, I thought they were playing really well. Just the fact that they came out here and won against top players. I also want to do that. That’s everyone’s dreams.”
Probably Naomi forgot that she is already a top player.
