Carlos Alcaraz overcame Borna Coric, 6-4, 6-3, while competing in front of his loving home fans on his 20th birthday, moving him closer to successfully defending his Mutua Madrid Open title. Only one player—Rafael Nadal—has successfully defended the title in Madrid since it first appeared on the ATP circuit in 2002, winning it in back-to-back years in 2013 and 2014.
