Andy Roddick believes that Carlos Alcaraz, at the age of 19, is a more complete player than older players Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer. Alcaraz, who turns 20 on Friday, already has nine victories under his belt thanks to his Grand Slam and Masters victories.
Alcaraz has won Masters tournaments on both clay and hard because the Spaniard is already a highly formidable opponent on each of those two surfaces. Alcaraz defeated Karen Khachanov 6-4 7-4 on Wednesday to go to the semifinals of the Madrid Masters.
Talking about the young Spaniard, Andy commented: “I think he’s the most complete 19-year-old male tennis player that I’ve ever seen. Roger didn’t win his first Major until he was 21, Rafa won at 17, but he wasn’t great on all surfaces until he was maybe 20-21-22. Alcaraz really has no weaknesses. The backhand used to misfire a little bit more than it does now. He’s able to take the line; he used to kind of love the crosscourt a little bit more.
But man, most of us mere mortals, if we’re missing some shots to get down in a game, it’s really hard for us to just step up, play the right shot, pull the trigger, and not think about the consequences. He’s a master at that, even at 19.

Carlos Alcaraz will play the world no.20 Borna Coric in the semifinal on Friday at 4:00 pm on MANOLO SANTANA STADIUM. In the past, they have never competed against each other so far in top competitions.
Alcaraz conquered 3 titles in 2023 in Buenos Aires, Indian Wells and Barcelona. Carlos was the finalist in Rio de Janeiro (Rio Open).

Borna is now having a run in Madrid where he ousted the world no.106 Hugo Gaston 6-3 6-3, the world no.15 Hubert Hurkacz 7-63 6-3, the world no.35 Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 6-75 6-3 7-65 and the world no.92 Daniel Altmaier 6-3 6-3.
Borna Coric will compete against the world no.2 Carlos Alcaraz in the semifinal on Friday at 4:00 pm on MANOLO SANTANA STADIUM. They have never competed against each other till now in top tournaments.
He is also scheduled to play at the French Open (French Open) after Rome. The main draw will start on the 10th of May.
