“I want to be one of the best tennis players in history,” said Carlos Alcaraz in Madrid

Carlos Alcaraz declared his ambition to become one of the best tennis players in history, saying he doesn't want to lose and is not afraid of getting tired of winning.

Carlos Alcaraz declared on Wednesday that his competitive passions are so strong that he wants to not only be the best tennis player in the world but one of the best in history. With his 27th victory in 29 matches in 2023, world No. 2 and US Open winner Alcaraz defeated Karen Khachanov 6-4, 7-5 to advance to the Madrid Open quarterfinals.

During the press conference that followed his quarterfinal match, Carlitos revealed: “I want to be one of the best tennis players in history. I’m ambitious. I don’t want to lose, even at marbles. I’m not going to get tired of winning; I live from day to day; I love playing tennis, so I’m not afraid that I’ll get tired of winning because that’s not going to happen.”
