Stefanos Tsitsipas: “The arrival of Carlos Alcaraz makes it more difficult to win a slam”

Stefanos Tsitsipas is feeling "really close" to winning a Grand Slam, but Carlos Alcaraz's arrival is making it more difficult. He loves the challenge of overcoming a complicated opponent, as it is more satisfying.

Tsitsipas Alcaraz

Stefanos Tsitsipas said that Carlos Alcaraz’s arrival is making winning his first slam more difficult, despite the fact that he feels “really close” to winning a Grand Slam. Tsitsipas, 24, advanced to his second Grand Slam final at the Australian Open earlier this year. Tsitsipas had little chance of winning the Melbourne Park championship as Novak Djokovic defeated the Greek 6-3 7-6 (4) 7-6. (5). At the 2021 French Open, Tsitsipas had a two-set lead until Djokovic came back to win in five sets in his first Grand Slam final.

Carlos Alcaraz’s arrival is making things a bit more difficult for Stefanos who revealed: “The arrival of Alcaraz makes this goal [ winning a slam]a bit more difficult than it already is, but I love that the challenges are difficult. Then it tastes better; few things are more satisfying than overcoming a really complicated.”
