Iga Swiatek gives injury updates before facing Qinwen Zheng in Stuttgart

Iga Swiatek has recovered from a rib injury and is ready to defend her Stuttgart Open crown, but may be rusty after a month away.

Iga Swiatek About Her Injury

Iga Swiatek said she has recovered from a rib injury and is prepared to defend her Stuttgart Open crown, but the world No. 1 acknowledged she might be a little rusty after a month away from the court. The injury the Pole acquired during her run to the Indian Wells semifinals last month forced her to withdraw from the Miami Open and Billie Jean King Cup qualifications. She is also getting ready to begin the French Open title defense next month.

I’m not injured anymore, so that’s the most important thing for me,” Iga commented. “I feel like I used that time in Warsaw well to rest a little bit and to not think about tennis.

“I have still been working out physically a little bit and obviously coming back to practising step by step. Here I am and I think I’m ready.”
