Emma Raducanu has been struggling with a wrist injury since the end of last season. The British sensation has tried to do everything she could in order to manage this issue. However, prolonged rest and long rehabilitation were not enough to fix the problem. It is now quite probable that she may opt to have surgery.
Soon after losing to Bianca Andreescu in Miami, she revealed:
“It’s something I’ve been managing for some time. I just need to review after this tournament really and figure out what my next steps are. We have been managing it, keeping on top of it, so I’m able to play in the short term, but the current solutions aren’t very viable long term.”
Having a wrist injury now means losing the rest of the season. The “optimal” moment to undergo surgery is all this after the US Open, when there is enough time to recover and be ready to play in the next season (probably from the second quarter).

This season Emma achieved a compiled 5-4 win-loss record.
