Melanie Oudin had to undergo a heart operation in order to fix an irregular heartbeat.
The former world no.31, has been struggling for the past months with an accelerated hearth beat during or soon after matches. At the beginning she was thinking that the problem was psychological, then they uncovered it was of a mechanical nature. (see article)
So Melanie had a procedure and fortunately everything went well to be dismisses from the hospital the very same day.
The American tweeted “Hey everyone, the procedure went extremely well today! I’m sore and struggled getting up from the anesthesia but I am home now. Just wanted to thank you guys for your kind thoughts and prayers. It means a lot to me. #postoppicture”
Oudin will have a minor operation to her eye later I the month and she should be fully fitby the beginning of the season.
