Serena Williams was doubtful about her participation in Singapore after retiring from Beijing (knee injury). The world no.1 stated “I don’t think it would be smart for me to play in Singapore, it’s just the way I feel. I will however wait and see how it goes”. Eventually Serena changed her thoughts and she decided to head to Asia to play the season’s finale. The American has landed to Singapore to give some assurance about her participation.

The world no.1 has won the last 3 editions of the WTA finals she has participated (2009, 2012, 2013) and she has also won in her debut in 2001. The finals will start the 20th of October.
