Naomi Osaka has predictably announced that she will not play in the upcoming Australian Open. It is not a secret that the full-time slam champion has been struggling with mental health issues. Naomi has recently focused her attention on investing in new ventures, and there are no evident signs (videos etc.) of her even practicing. At this point, it is plausible to guess that Naomi may even retire from tennis like her childhood idol Serena Williams.

After working with Wim Fissette since 2019, Naomi Osaka and he parted ways in 2022. Under his direction, Osaka won the US Open in 2020 and the Australian Open in 2021. Under his direction, Osaka won the US Open in 2020 and the Australian Open in 2021. But in the previous months, she had a rocky time on the tour and took a break from it because of mental health problems.

Naomi revealed:

“He’s an amazing coach and we didn’t part on bad terms.  felt like I needed a different energy. He’s an ambitious guy and I’m sure he would have wanted to go to Wimbledon, so it was kind of like two different mindsets.”
