Federer replaces Nadal in IPTL League

Rafael Nadal is still struggling with his wrist injury and he has now pulled out from the IPTL League. The world no.2 was meant to play for the Indian Aces in the newly born league, but he couldn’t commit anymore for “health concerns”.

So the organization managed to have the Maestro on board and he will play in the same team as Pete Sampras!

Roger: I am looking forward to it

Federer commented “I’m really looking forward to making my first trip to Delhi. My team tells me that there’s a lot of tennis fans and supporters of mine in the area.”

From the Organization

Mahesh Bhupathi, the IPTL founder, commented “When you are talking of profile as high as Rafa Nadal, there was probably only one name that could have helped ease the pain and for us fortunately Roger was available and we made it happen. Rafa has been hurt since Wimbledon, he has not played any tennis. So obviously there was a risk there, in the format we have neither party wanted to take a chance.”

Nadal: I am very disappointed

Rafa commented “I am very disappointed to announce that I will not be part of the first edition of the IPTL. I was looking forward to representing Indian Aces and playing in front of fans in New Delhi in the exciting new League. I wish the team the very best and hope to be back next year.”

Roger will play 2 matches the 7th and the 8th of December.
