Emma Raducanu, who defeated Linda Fruhvirtova in her opening match of the season with a score of 4-6, 6-4, 6-2, has discussed how different it was to play against a younger opponent. The British player, who famously won the 2021 US Open at the age of just 18, rarely faced opponents who were younger or more inexperienced than she was, but she handled the challenge well and recovered from a set and a break down to win the ASB Classic.
Emma commented: “Linda is such a great young player and it was a different dynamic for me because normally I was the younger one and going into this match she is, and yeah she’s going to be like up there for sure and she already is so massive props to her.”
