On January 16, the Australian Open begins at Melbourne Park. Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz are the favorites to win the first slam of the year and they have great chances to improve their net worth with the new prize money.
At the first Grand Slam of the year, the male and female champions will each receive Aus$2.975 million, with earlier-round losers faring better than ever.
Round one goers will get a boost of 3.2 percent to Aus$106,250, while second-round participants will receive an increase of the same amount to Aus$158,850. The prize money for the entire Australian summer of tennis, which includes Grand Slam qualifiers like the United Cup, will surpass $100 million Australian dollars for the first time, according to tournament director Craig Tiley.
In the last 20 years, the prize money for the Australian Open has climbed by more than 321%, or by Aus$58.32 million, from Aus$18.18 million.

Novak Djokovic in 2022
