Rafael Nadal will play in the United Cup next week, where he will face the likes of Nick Kyrgios and Cameron Norrie. The Spanish sensation will represent Spain in the newly minted mixed competition. His team is in the same group as Australia and Great Britain.
Recently, the 22-time Major champion was questioned about his season-long preparation strategies. He disclosed that he would soon fly to Australia to take part in the ATP and WTA’s team competition known as the United Cup.
Talking about the upcoming competition in Australia, Rafael commented: “It is likely that I will travel on December 26 because on the 31st I made my debut in the United Cup – a newly minted mixed team tournament – facing Cameron Norrie. Sharing a team with my colleagues makes me excited, and it will surely be a fun experience,” Nadal stated in an interview for Marca.”
Talking about clashing against Nick Kyrgios, Nadal added: “I am going to play at least two games before the Australian Open – on January 2 I will face Nick Kyrgios – which will come in handy and hopefully we can advance further but it is clear that the draw – Spain shares a group with Great Britain and the local Australia – is complicated.”

Rafael Nadal in 2022
At the moment ranked no.2, the Spaniard played his last match on the 17th of November when he defeated world no.3 Casper Ruud 7-5 7-5 in the round robin in the Nitto ATP Finals (draw).
Until now, during this year the Spaniard has a composed 39-8 record. The Spaniard has won 4 titles in 2022 in Melbourne, Australian Open, Acapulco and French Open. The Spaniard was the finalist in Indian Wells.
Nadal will compete next in Australian Open (Australian Open). He will start from the main draw that will commence on the 16th of January.
Nick Kyrgios in 2022
Currently ranked no.22, the Australian played his last match on the 6th of October when he overcame world no.77 Kamil Majchrzak 3-6 6-2 6-2 in the 2nd round in Tokyo (draw).
This season Kyrgios has managed to achieve a compiled 37-10 match record. This year, Nick conquered 1 title in Washington. The Australian was the runner-up in Wimbledon.
He is also scheduled to play in Australian Open (Australian Open) after Adelaide. The main draw will start on the 9th of January.
Rafael Nadal and Nick Kyrgios squared off 9 times. Their actual head to head record is 6-3 for Nadal. Before, the last time they squared off, Rafael Nadal won 7-6(0) 5-7 6-4 in the quarter in Indian Wells (BNP Paribas Open) on the 17th of March 2022.

Cameron Norrie in 2022
Now the world no.14, the Brit played his last match on the 2nd of November when he lost to world no.51 Corentin Moutet 6-3 5-7 7-6(3) in the 2nd round in Paris (draw).
At the moment, during this season Cameron has a 49-26 win-loss record. The Brit conquered 2 titles in 2022 in Delray Beach and Lyon. Norrie was the runner-up in Acapulco and in Los Cabos.
