The tennis world was recently shocked to learn the news that Simona Halep was suspended for doping. Unfortunately, also the world no.77 Kamil Majchrzak had to endure the same fate.

When Kamil Majchrzak tested positive for illegal substances at three competitions in September and October, he was given a temporary ban for doping. The 26-year-old from Poland turned in A samples at the Sofia Open, Japan Open, and Seoul Challenger that contained SARM S-22, a prohibited anabolic agent that can help with muscle building, and metabolites of other substances, according to the International Tennis Integrity Agency’s Friday announcement of the decision.

Majchrzak has the option to ask for his B samples’ analyses. During his temporary suspension, he is not permitted to participate in or watch any official tournaments.

This was his statement:

“I have some incredibly sad and difficult news to share with everyone. I have tested positive in anti-doping controls during October and November 2022. Firstly, I have never, ever, knowingly taken any banned substance. At this moment, I have no idea what has happened and this is the biggest shock. I have started the most difficult fight of my life – the fight to prove my innocence and to return to the sport I love.”
