“RED FLAGS.” Why Raducanu was ditched by coach Tursunov for Bencic

Dmitry Tursunov explains why he decided not to coach Emma Raducanu anymore to partner with Belinda Bencic

Emma Raducanu And Her Coach

Emma Raducanu and her coach Dmitry Tursunov seemed to have great chemistry. However, the Russian coach decided to ditch her to partner with Belinda Bencic. During a recent interview. Dmitry said that he was very happy to make things work with Emma who is a hard worker. However, there were some red flags that he could not ignore. Tursunov commented:

“First of all, she’s absolutely great, she’s a hard worker and she doesn’t think or act like she’s a superstar,” he commented. “She is hungry to improve and is obsessed with tennis. I think it’s quite a rare combination. So I really loved working with her, and I really wanted to make it work. It was a very difficult decision for me to walk away from a player that I like and respect.”

About the red flags, Tursunov added: “We didn’t agree on the terms and there were some red flags that just couldn’t be ignored. So that’s why it’s a little frustrating to read things like that. I wasn’t hopping from one player to another, I wouldn’t do that.”

Tursunov didn’t elaborate on the “reg flags.” Probably, as he stated in the past, he didn’t feel that his job would be “safe” after Emma split with so many coaches in the past 18 months.
