When a great player like Nadal can’t play for an injury everybody says that is a pity for the sport. The reality is a bit different.
The fact that Rafael Nadal is not able to compete at the US Open is a great opportunities for the other top players that will be exempted from playing one of the toughest players in tennis history.
Federer: Rafa out = more opportunities

But at the same time, I think what stands out is the opportunity, to try to take advantage of him, the fact that he’s not here. It’s one less really difficult player to beat maybe.
I mean, maybe he was not going to be in my section. Maybe I wouldn’t have played him at all, like I have never played him here in the last ten years anyways”
