Kvitova ends a perfect week to win the title in New Haven

Finally Kvitova!

The Wimbledon Champion looked set to have another disappointing stint after winning Wimbledon like in 2011 after a horrible August (she lost very early in Montreal and Cincinnati).

Petra has finally found her best tennis in New Haven to win the tournament without conceding more than 6 games per match.

The final against world no.68 Magdalena Rybarikova ended 6-4 6-2 for Petra without any drama. Match Stats

Kvitova: I played very solid

Petra commented “It wasn’t really great in Montréal, but I still felt pretty good over there. It was also my first tournament after Wimbledon,” the Czech said. “I had a bad loss against Makarova though, and in Cincinnati I struggled a lot, not really finding my confidence. It was a really difficult few weeks for me.

But from the first match I played here, I played really solid. That’s important for me going into the US Open. And I’ll enjoy this title today – but from tomorrow I have to think about the US Open.”

This is Petra’s 13 career title, the 2nd of the season. Let’s see if she can keep the momentum also at the US Open
