Stefanos Tsitsipas lost a tough match against Frances Tiafoe on Sunday at the Laver Cup in London. The world number 6 could not convert 4 match points before losing the match and the 3 points that made Team World win the Laver Cup. The tennis fans were quite upset for some comments made by Tommy Paul and Frances Tiafoe.
Greek Yougurt
While Tommy suggested making ‘daddy’s jokes‘ to get into Stefanos head, Frances compared Stefanos to a Greek Yogurt. During the following presser, the American player was asked to comment on what he said about Tsitsipas and he added some more to the dismay of Stefanos’ fans.
“You know, I see Stef across the court and I’m, like, I’m licking my lips playing that guy. I want to win. So, yeah, I’m just happy I got over the line. Yeah, like we just like Greek yogurt, so it was good,” Tiafoe commented.

Tsitsipas is unlikable and has displayed his own fair share of bigoted behaviour but Fritz’s ‘Greek yogurt’ remark towards him are uncalled for. and is a reflection of how deeply entrenched toxic masculinity is within men’s tennis(and men’s sports in general.

Currently the world no.6, Tsitsipas played his last match on the 25th of September when he lost to world no.19 Francis Tiafoe 1-6 7-6(11) 10-8 in the round robin in the Laver Cup (draw).
Currently, during this year Tsitsipas has a compiled 47-18 record. The Greek has won 2 titles in 2022 in Monte-Carlo and Mallorca. Tsitsipas reached the final in Rotterdam, in Rome and in Cincinnati.
