Federer to launch his new racket in October!

Roger Federer is putting on the market a collection of rackets in collaboration with Wilson. The new collection will be inspired (and it will feature) the larger racket he has adopted since the beginning of the year. Many think that this new Wilson was one of the keys of Roger’s renaissance.

The Swiss Maestro has adopted a larger “stick” in 2014. His new racket head is 7% larger than the previous one to add an extra 10% sweet spot. In addition, the beam width has been increased of 4 mm (from 17.5 to 21.5). All of this allowed him to get more power with the same feel and it prevented Roger to “perform” fewer shanks (this was a huge problem for Federer especially when he was getting tight).

From Roger

The Maestro commented “I grew up idolizing the legends of the game, so it was natural for me to play with Wilson Pro Staff 85-inch rackets. I love the feel a smaller head provides, and larger rackets couldn’t deliver the feedback I needed to be successful. This new Wilson Pro Staff racket has been a long time coming, but I finally have the feel I need in a 97-inch head.”

From Wilson

The President Mike Dowse commented “When it comes to his tennis career, Roger is a chess master, always thinking several moves ahead. So when we broached the subject of developing a more powerful racket that would still fit his needs for responsive ‘feel’ and attacking style, we jumped at the chance to collaborate with him. This racket represents the most extensive collaboration between an elite player of Roger’s caliber and Wilson. The result is a groundbreaking racket that will benefit tennis players worldwide.”

The Launch

The new Wilson Pro Staff RF 97 Autograph collection will be available in the market from October. Would you bet it is going to be an incredible best seller?
