Nick Kyrgios reveals that he is not at his best both physically and mentally before clashing against Daniil Medvedev in Montreal

Nick Kyrgios seems to be an all-new man this year. Nick reached the Wimbledon final before winning the ATP500 in Washington (singles and doubles). On Tuesday, Kyrgios defeated Sebastian Baez in the opening round in Montreal to set up a tasty second-round match against Daniil Medvedev.

Kyrgios about his mother, father and brother

During the press conference that followed Nick Kyrgios’s first-round match in Montreal, the Australian player revealed that it is a tough moment for him to travel. Nick said that his mother is at the hospital and his father is not coping very well. In addition, his brother Christos became a father for the first time. Kyrgios also decided not to play the Laver Cup in September so as to spend more time in Australia with his family and girlfriend.

Nick commented:

“It’s hard because even traveling now, my mum is in hospital at the moment, my dad hasn’t been very well, my brother just had a baby and I don’t get to be there with my family when normal people would like to be with them.

It’s hard being from Australia because we can’t travel back and forth. There’s a lot of things people don’t see. They only see me winning, losing, throwing a racquet, doing those things. They don’t really understand the challenges that I face or what people on tour face, what’s going on in their personal lives.”
