Novak Djokovic was well aware that he had a tricky task in the Paris quarters against Marin Cilic and he was right.
The story of the match
Nole had to dig deep against the Croat no.1 that won the opening set after breaking Djokovic in the 9ht game (5-4) before winning 6-4.
After Nole had a smooth run in the second set (6-2) everything was pointing to an “almost” easy grab of the decider. However, the Serbian legend was broken in the 3rd game (1-2) he started to get in a tricky position. Fortunately, he broke back soon after (2-2) to make things even. Eventually, the soon-to-be world no.1 broke Cilic again in the 8th game before winning the contest 4-6 6-2 6-3.
The semifinal against Federer
Novak will face Roger Federer in a blockbuster semifinal. The head to head is 24-22 for the Serb that also leads 4-3 on indoor courts.
