Simona Halep makes history in the WTA rankings

Simona reaches an important benchmark

Simona Halep ends her season as the deserving world no.1 for the 2nd consecutive year.

The Romanian sensation has been through a lot during this season especially after she started with another massive disappointment in Melbourne after she lost her 3rd slam final.

Eventually, Simona managed to finally conquer her first major in Paris to then also have a great stint in North American following her triumph in Montreal and the final in Cincinnati.

Unfortunately, the Romanian struggled for the final part of the season with a problem to her back (herniated disk), and she couldn’t compete in the last few tournaments.

Even if Simona couldn’t play the last part of the season, she managed to retain her world no.1 rank, and she has now achieved an important benchmark breaking in the top10 of the most successful players that stayed at the top of the rankings.

Halep has just surpassed Vika Azarenka after being the world no.1 for 52 weeks,

Well done!
