The young Australian is probably the most interesting prospect of his country. Ranked world no.144, Nick received a well deserved wild card from the Wimbledon organization and he is proving they were right.

Kyrgios won a truly epic match against world no.14 Richard Gasquet after being2 sets down and saving 9 match points! The final result was 3-6 6-7 (4) 6-4 7-5 10-8 in 3 hours and 53 minutes.

OK, the big one is definitely the 9 match points saved by the Australian, but that’s not all. Nick fired 21 aces, Gasquet 27! The Australian saved 14 break points out of 16 (many were also match points). Nick blasted a mind blowing 86 winners vs. Gasquet’s 76. Nick was absolutely jubilant by his win to comment “It was an unbelievable match out there. My first ever two-sets-love down, coming back and winning. It’s an amazing feeling.I played some unbelievable tennis today. He was coming up with some really good shots as well. I saved nine match points. There’s plenty of opportunities he could have taken. I came out on top, I’m really happy.”
