Fantastic Federer fires 25 aces to cruise past Muller in Wimbledon 2nd round

Another solid day at work for Roger Federer.

The Maestro had a spotless performance against world no.103 Gilles Muller. Roger had to overcome the big server from Luxembourg and he did it in style without conceding a single breaking point. The final score was 6-3 7-5 6-3.

Some numbers: 25 aces only 5 unforced errors!

Roger’s dominance is pretty clear from the match stats. The Maestro blasted 25 aces (1 double fault) to win 91% of the points on his first serve (and that helps!). Roger didn’t concede a single break points to break Muller 4 times. Finally the Maestro had a great break point conversion rate (4 out of 6). Probably the most impressive stat is that Federer committed just 5 unforced errors and that is great for such an aggressive player.

Roger: I am very happy for today

Federer commented “I’m very happy with the match today because I knew it could have been difficult. And we saw signs of it I think midway through the second set when I think for four straight games I didn’t see much on his serve. Then actually the rain delay kind of changed things around. I came out and I was a bit more clear of how I was going to return him.”

Next Granollers or Giraldo

Roger will play either Granollers or Giraldo in the 3rd round. Whoever is going to be, the Swiss is the hot favorite to get to the 4th round.
