Super Federer annihilates Lorenzi in Wimbledon opener

What a fantastic Roger Federer!

The Maestro plays at his very best in the first round in Wimbledon to leave just 5 games to Paolo Lorenzi. The Italian wasn’t definitely a dreadful player to encounter on grass, but Roger looked really at his very best. The Maestro had no problems to break Paolo twice in the 1st set and 3 times in the second. The only area that Roger was once again very weak was in his break point conversion (6 out of 23), but beside that he was perfect.

Some Numbers

Roger scored 103 points vs. Lorenzi’s 64. He fired 9 aces (1 double fault). He went to the net 42 times (!!!) winning 30 points. He converted just 26% of the break points (6/23) and he saved 5 break points out of 5. The match lasted just 1 hour and 33 minutes. Match Stats.

Roger: I thought I played well

Federer was happy by his performance “Getting the first one out of the way is always a good feeling. I thought I played well, got a lot of breaks and served well. “Walking down the tunnel I felt relaxed and happy to go on court but once you step out there you are ready and you do feel some pressure.”

Next vs. Muller

Roger will play world no. 103 Gilles Muller from Luxemburg in the second round. Head to head is 3-0 for Roger that is expected to have a nice stroll on the Centre Court once again.
