Rafael Nadal had to withdraw from the Wimbledon final after an injury to his abdominals. The Spanish champion has been dealing with all sorts of issues during his entire career. The former world number 1 is very well aware that he needs to manage his body.

During a recent interview in Barcelona after Wimbledon, Rafa commented:

“We are controlling the calendar a lot, doing things in the best way possible to avoid things. I am 36 years old and I am almost 20 years of professional career. I have lived with problems, physical problems is a reality, but during those physical problems that I have had not prevented me. (I) can never continue to maintain the illusion and also competitiveness, right?”

And to maintain a high level during all these years and in that sense. Well, I’m calm, I’m not worried much more about foot care than this is an unfortunate situation, unpleasant and good in a moment that was not the right one but there is nothing left but to accept and look the future with hope.”
