While the American teenager is rising fast and on the edge of breaking into the top 10, it’s no secret that at 40 years of age, Serena will not be around on the main tour for long.
After being out of competition for one year, Serena Williams announced that she would be back for the grass season, competing in Eastbourne and Wimbledon.
Coco Gauff is currently playing in Berlin where she reached the quarter-final. When asked to comment about Serena’s comeback, she said:
“I was really shocked. I didn’t know. I knew she was gonna come back. I know she hinted at Wimbledon. Coming back from injury, especially at her age, nothing is really certain. I’m super excited and glad that she’s back.
Realistically it may be one of the few last times that we get to see her play professionally.”
