Strange tournament in Strasbourg as the top 3 seeds Stephens, Cornet and Flipkens all crashed out in the opener.
Yesterday it was the time of home favorite Alize Cornet to bow against Camila Giorgi.. To be honest that wasn’t a real upset as we all know that the Italian is capable to beat the very best. This year she has already upset Sharapova and Cibulkova and she was very close to win the tournament in Katowice where she lost in a very tough 3 set final against Alize Cornet.
The match against the Italian and the Frenchwoman was always rather even and only a decisive break in the 8th game (5-3) of the decider gave the final boost to Camila. The match ended 6-4 1-6 6-3 with both players scoring 85 points each.
Camila will now play in the second round against world no.124 Claire Feuerstein. She has great chances to go deep n this tournament. Let’s see how deep.
